Tido Visser began his musical career as a singer. He sang in various professional choirs and was co-founder of the Kassiopeia Quintet, with which he recorded all of the madrigals of the Italian composer Carlo Gesualdo. In 2011, he responded to his broad interest in the performing arts and accepted the position of director of the baroque ensemble Combattimento Consort Amsterdam. In 2013, he became the managing and artistic director of the Nederlands Kamerkoor. Tido also works as a director. In 2022 he directed the world premiere of the semi-autobiographical opera #uncut about the life of a trans woman, by composer Renske Vrolijk. In 2021, he presented a fully staged version of Orlando di Lasso's Lagrime di San Pietro in collaboration with Nanine Linning.
