Van Gogh in Me - Asia tour
With Van Gogh in Me, the Netherlands Chamber Choir presents a spectacular concert experience in which art works by Vincent Van Gogh and Gustav Klimt come alive to music by the great Romantic composers like Debussy, Saint-Saëns, and Mahler, and respond to emotions of both the singers and the audience. The choir creates this immersive audiovisual experience in collaboration with the Italian studio fuse*, connecting visuals and sound to emotions of musicians and audience, creating an overwhelming and unforgettable performance in which music becomes visible, and the art becomes audible.
The production started touring in the Netherlands in November 2022 for the first time, with international tours being planned for later concert seasons. The world premiere took place in Vienna on 28 June 2022, as part of a state visit of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands to Austria. The tour was linked to the release of a cd-album under the label Alpha Classics, containing the repertoire of the Van Gogh in Me production. One of the tracks, Satie’s Gymnopédie no. 1 in an arrangement for choir, was released as digital single (including visuals from the performance) on June 17 2022.
