Petite Messe Solennelle
With Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, the Nederlands Kamerkoor and Amsterdam Sinfonietta embark on a new and very challenging collaboration. This masterpiece by Rossini is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and popular works ever written. And although Rossini wrote it on his deathbed, there is a great degree of lightness in the music. Perhaps the piece thus underlines the unbearable lightness of existence.
Rossini's composition is undoubtedly one of the most popular works ever written.
As always, the Nederlands Kamerkoor and Amsterdam Sinfonietta guarantee a brilliant performance, and - by tradition - do so unconducted. Together, the ensembles present a brand new arrangement of the work by Wijnand van Klaveren, for string orchestra, harmonium, two horns and choir. The soloists come from the ranks of the Nederlands Kamerkoor itself.
